The Hills Have Eyes 2 - Unrated

This is the followup to the 2006 remake of Wes Craven's classic film. The basic premise is miners refused to leave the mines during the nuclear tests in Nevada. And what's left is a group of mutants from the fallout that pick off families and people that are unlucky enough to pass through. In this sequel we pick up sometime after the first one. The US Army has moved in to hunt down the mutants and study them. Of course things go awry and a group of trainees that are just delivering water get thrust into the nightmare. The movie just plods along from one point to the next with no real interest or reason to care. The previous film worked in part because the family members who became victims were somewhat developed so you could get invested in them. As well as an overall better plot. In this outing you don't really care for some of the characters and are rooting for them to be killed. An exception is the character played by Jessica Stroup. Barely. I'd advise missing this film for even die hard fans of the genre.
